OLIVIA HYACINTH BIOGRAPHY

Olivia Hyacinth’s story is one of resilience, compassion, and unwavering dedication to uplifting others

Olivia Hyacinth was born into a family of nine children—two boys and seven girls—in the rural area of Imo State. Her father refused to educate the girls, believing it was a waste of money. Their mother, with help from her family members, tried her best to educate the older children. As the second child, Olivia helped support the family by selling pure water and doing small jobs to pay for her younger siblings’ education.

Olivia Hyacinth’s Earlier Life and Journey

Seeking a better life, Olivia moved to Lagos and got admitted to university but had no one to sponsor her. Her boyfriend, now her husband, encouraged her to take a six-month professional course and a three-month internship. Despite her financial struggles, Olivia found herself giving to children she saw on the streets of Lagos, often without having anything left for herself. She also paid school fees for kids she encountered crying for help.

The Generosity Journey

Olivia’s generosity extended to her rural community. Her sister frequently called for assistance for people needing help, and Olivia always responded, even though she didn’t run an NGO or charity. People in her community, including her mother, would often inform her of those in need, calling her “Ulunne” and trusting her to save lives.

Her selfless acts didn’t go unnoticed, earning her awards from community women, her husband’s people, churches, and schools. Giving became an inseparable part of her life. Her husband, initially concerned about their financial stability, eventually accepted her giving spirit and supported her fully in running an NGO. He recognized that helping others brought her peace of mind and encouraged others to support her efforts.

Olivia Hyacinth’s dream

As a child, Olivia dreamed of becoming a lawyer and running orphanages for the homeless. Although she couldn’t achieve the former due to financial constraints, the Hyacinth Olivia Foundation became her avenue to help the less privileged. Through this foundation, she hopes to inspire meaningful people to touch lives and continue her legacy of giving.
